Patricia and Angel

Meet Angel, a 7 year old chihuahua loved by her mom, Patricia. Patricia told our team that Angel means everything to her. “Since I lost my son in 2016, I was hurt. I got emotional a lot and she helped me a great deal. She’s my emotional support. She helps everybody else, too. I cannot lose my baby.” Angel loves her mom too, and really loves treats (who doesn’t?)!

We met Angel and Patricia at a free pet clinic working with San Diego Alpha Project for the Homeless where Dr. Kwane noticed she badly needed some dental care. We told Patricia we want to keep Angel healthy and around for a long time by helping her with Angel’s dental. Dr. Kwane and our amazing friends at Papaya Pet Care agreed to do her procedure at no cost. She was elated, and trusted Angel in the hands of our team.

Our pickup with Angel went great - she was so sweet to our team. We were excited to use a new, safe transport carrier donated by Impact Crates on her ride to and from Papaya Pet Care. As suspected, she needed some teeth pulled - nine to be exact! A few hours later, Angel was ready to go home - she was a wonderful patient. Mom was waiting downstairs for her arrival and told Dr. Kwane, “I miss her already!” Angel was thrilled to be back home, and Patricia gave our team a hug good-bye with a thank you. Special thanks to our supporters, volunteers, vet partners, and Papaya Pet Care for giving Angel plenty more healthy years with her mom. You can watch the video of their story below.
