Project Street Vet offers veterinary care support to the pets and their owners experiencing homelessness and/or housing vulnerability through our service programs. We are currently only able to assist pet parents in our service areas, and services offered vary by location.

As a small team, we prioritize urgent needs and may not be able to respond if your request falls outside our qualifications. Our services are exclusively for pets belonging to individuals experiencing homelessness or housing vulnerability. Services are currently available only in select cities including: Long Beach, Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange County, & San Diego (CA); Atlanta (GA); Orlando and Webster (FL); and New York City (NY). Program services vary by location.

Routine veterinary care services including exams, vaccinations, and supplies at community clinics or street outreach events.
Veterinary case management and financial assistance for minor care, spay, neuter, limited diagnostics, and end-of-life services. Other treatments will be considered on a case-by-case basis pending prognosis of pet and funding availability. Project Street Vet does not fund for services already performed or resuscitation for pets.
In order to receive financial assistance, pet parents are required to submit an application and undergo screening demonstrating they are currently experiencing homelessness. Application submission does not guarantee approval.

A medical emergency can include any life-threatening condition—such as difficulty breathing, bleeding, ongoing vomiting, inability to eat or drink, inability to urinate/defecate, trauma, and/or sudden collapse. If you believe it’s urgent, seek immediate care at the nearest emergency vet hospital or reach out to Pets of the Homeless for alternative support.

Currently, we’re unable to provide financial aid or direct services outside our active cities. We recommend using our search tool above to find resources in your area.

Yes. All veterinary care, supplies, and outreach services provided by Project Street Vet are completely free to those we serve —including medications, vaccinations, and other basic needs. Donations from supporters make this possible.

After you submit our contact form with details of your location and pet’s needs, a team member will follow up as soon as possible. Emergency situations will be prioritized. We recommend reaching out to as many other assistance organizations as possible in addition to Project Street Vet.
