Dr. Kwane Stewart
CO-FOUNDER & BOARD PRESIDENT
A graduate from the renowned Colorado State University Veterinary Program, Dr. Kwane has been a California practicing veterinarian for over 22 years. He has worked in nearly every part of the profession - honing his clinical and business expertise. Many years ago during a five-year tenure as a shelter veterinarian in a struggling, depressed area of California, Dr. Kwane began to form a true understanding for those that struggle to afford health care for their pets.
Over the past 10 years, Kwane has quietly volunteered his time traveling city streets of California giving free veterinary services to the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness.
“For the past decade, I've been passionately motivated to impact the lives of pets and people experiencing homelessness. When I have spare time or if I happen to be driving home and see a pet and owner in need, I offer some assistance. A quick check-up for the pet, maybe some medication or food...it isn't a lot but sometimes giving a little can make all the difference. During my time volunteering, I've experienced some of the most genuine stories of love, compassion, struggle, and hope, and learned a lot along the way. For example, it is estimated that anywhere from 10%-25% of people experiencing homelessness have a pet. This work has been life-changing and truly inspiring, but has also come with many challenges. Some of the pets I come across need treatment, sometimes life-saving treatment, that can be very costly and it's hard to say ‘no’ to a pet that’s truly in need. That is why we started Project Street Vet - to shine a light on these stories and encourage others to give back a little, too.”
Dr. Kwane estimates that he has cared for over 1,000 pets through volunteer work prior to 2020, when Project Street Vet was formed. Today, he continues to lead the Project Street Vet mission with his inspirational message of “no judgment, just help” and hopes our growing team can continue to find and care for these families. You can listen to more of his personal story and journey here. In addition to his work at Project Street Vet, he also serves as a Fetch Pet Insurance Veterinary Advisory Board member which provides guidance, recommendations and feedback to Fetch Pet Insurance based on frontline perspectives as leaders in the veterinary field, and Fear Free’s Chief Veterinary Professional Relations Officer.

Professionally, Lisa is a personal finance expert, author and speaker who brings over two decades of experience in wealth management and financial planning to the Board of Project Street Vet. Danae Davis
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
With nearly a decade of experience within the animal non-profit sector, Danae enthusiastically joined Project Street Vet as our Executive Director in late 2021. After graduating from U.C. Santa Barbara, Danae was determined to find work in the non-profit space with an aim of making the world a better place. Her love of animals drew her to a San Diego based animal organization called the Foundation for Animal Care and Education, which provides support to pet families experiencing medical emergencies. From programs, to education, to event management, Danae spent years in multiple roles at FACE, and ended up serving as their Executive Director and a Board Member. Danae created the organization’s Community Outreach Program, which focused on bringing awareness of FACE’s programs to unhoused pet parents, which is how she met Dr. Kwane.
Dr. Kwane expressed his passions and desire to help more pets and families through his work at Project Street Vet. After volunteering with at Project Street Vet, Danae and Kwane had a shared desire to develop the organization to its full potential, and she was offered an opportunity to join the team as our first Executive Director in late 2021. Since then, she has been focused on implementing organizational structure at all levels for a new charity and has helped grow Project Street Vet from a one veterinarian led operation to multi-vet, multi-city organization assisting hundreds of pets and people per year. Danae is eager to continue to grow the team and make the biggest impact possible.
