What We Do
Our teams provide free, non-judgmental veterinary care and support to pet families experiencing homelessness. Our programs embody our values of compassion and professionalism, with the goal of keeping pets and people together.
DIRECT VET-TO-PET CARE
Street Vet Work
Project Street Vet is founded on the inspiring Street Vet Work of Dr. Kwane Stewart, who for years has provided direct vet-to-pet services by walking city streets to identify pet families in need of care. During Street Vet Work, volunteer veterinary teams walk the streets and visit encampments, offering free medical care right where it's needed most. Our dream is to see Street Veterinary Medicine legitimized and practiced more regularly within the profession. If you are a veterinary professional interested in Street Vet Work, please sign up to volunteer!
COMMUNITY
Pet Clinics
In partnership with local organizations serving those experiencing homelessness, our veterinary teams host pet clinic events that deliver preventative care, supplies, spay/neuter referrals and more to pet families in need. If you are an organization that resides within one of our service areas interested in hosting a Project Street Vet Pet Clinic, please fill out the form below.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Veterinary Case Management
Project Street Vet assists qualified pet parents through financial assistance grants for veterinary care. Financial assistance is typically provided for non-urgent veterinary care needs, but emergency and surgery cases may be considered. Thanks to Diana’s Friends Fund, Project Street Vet can also assist with personalized end-of-life services. Learn more about our qualification process here. If you are a vet hospital interested in partnering with Project Street Vet, please contact us.
PET NUTRITION
Pet Pantries
Located in Los Angeles County, our pet food pantries distribute thousands of pounds of food each month to ensure pets have access to nutritional food, even when times are tough.
